Taiko fun for all the family – children 7yrs+ and their adults are encouraged to join in too – that’s the point…this class is as enjoyable for the adults as it is the children, and a lovely opportunity to enjoy a meaningful, social, community activity together. The class is held in a light, fun way that also encourages focus, musical expression and teamwork. Absolutely no experience is needed for this and we welcome everyone.

Can we come and try it out?

YES! Come along and see if you like it, just bring £3.50 cash per person and we’ll go from there. If you love it, you can join part-way through the term, you’ll pay from the date you start to the end of the current term. Can my child join in without me?

We encourage adults to join in, as it can be such a wonderful opportunity to share this experience together. However, if you prefer, adults can stay and watch the class in the room, or there is seating in the foyer just outside the room but we do ask that you stay with your children during the session.

How much does it cost?

Still £3.50 per person per session! Your first session is just a trial, so come along and see how you feel about it first, and then you can sign up for the term.

What do we need to bring?

Everything you need is provided, including hearing protection for those who want it. You will be best to wear comfortable clothing and flexible shoes (or join those playing bare-foot), and bring a bottle of water as you might feel you need it.

I can’t make Mondays, are there other opportunities?

Family Taiko Sundays are once a month in the same venue. You can bring along other family members or friends who might like to join the joyful rhythms but can’t commit to Monday evenings.

Will we perform?

If you are interested, there may be opportunities to come and drum as part of our community group, Taiko Journey Collective, who perform at local community events. Or you can keep it just for yourself, as something fun you do on a Monday night…who knows where your taiko journey will take you?
