Repertoire Classes focus on learning taiko songs, giving an experience of playing in a taiko group. We will learn a new song every few weeks, and focus on kata and technique a little more here than in the Open Class.
Open Class is a lovely opportunity to enjoy taiko - a meaningful, social, community activity. People say that it's a great way to keep fit, some call it "brain gym" because we're using our minds and bodies in different ways, and some people come because they just want to do something that's fun, affordable, and time for themselves. The class is held in a light, fun way that encourages focus, musical expression and teamwork.
Repertoire Classes are run by HJ, Sarah & Ruth, who will lead a fun, energetic and inspiring taiko session that teaches taiko repertoire and gives an experience of playing in a taiko group. This is set-up to welcome new players who have some taiko experience, and to maintain the Taiko Journey Collective, our community performance group.
